“There is no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.” -John Ruskin

I am sitting here thinking about 4 different things all at the same time.

1. Should I just cut my losses & pack up and go home?
2. Should I warm up that last piece of pizza?
3. Where did Abbey hide the Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Covered Cherries?
4. I should blog. It’s an “inside productive” thing.

Let me explain.

I’m at the beach.

And it’s raining.

Again.

{Cue Drama Queen here}.

Admittedly, I have an unhealthy obsession with weather. It more often than not is the benchmark on whether said event was good or bad. I know, I know. Terrible! But, I’m in good company… Chris Tomlin says he’s the exact same way. Weather affects his mood. We’ve bonded over it. (I just wrote these last few statements to keep the “look on the bright side” Jesus Jukers at bay. If Chris Tomlin, who is the most sung Christian artist of our day, can struggle with weather, then so can I. Kidding. Sort of. Basically, just let your girl have her moment.)

I had 2 weeks to choose from to come to the beach. I chose this week. I had a 50/50 shot. I didn’t choose wisely.

To be fair, I do come to the beach every year. And this is the first time I can remember that I’ve ever been “rained out.” So, I guess you could say:

Carmen: 10, 11, 12, I can’t remember.
Tropical Storm Emily/El Nino/Bad Luck (whatever you want to call it): 1

But, it’s not all been a wash.

So far, we’ve:

1. Watched 9 episodes of The People vs. OJ Simpson. Courtesy of OJ being in the news again, as of late. Abbey was still just a twinkle that happened. We have only one episode, “The Verdict” left to go. Abs is now familiar with Marcia Clark, Kato. Judge Ito. Johnnie Cochran. Kim/Khloe/Kourtney’s dad, Bundy. Rockingham. And also knows the rest of phrase “If the glove doesn’t fit, you must acquit.”

2. We’ve eaten our weight in Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Covered Cherries. They are seriously the best!

3. We made the Ultimate Beach Playlist. Which we’ve not yet played.

4. We got to use our brand new beach umbrella…ella….ella. And we loved every single ONE day of it. On a sidetone, I’ve lived in Florida for 23 … TWENTY-THREE years! Why have I never bought a beach umbrella before? It’s a game changer. For real, y’all. Here’s the one I bought:

5. We made lots of instagram stories. In which pretty must just entertained ourselves. Exhibit A below.

Sometimes you win (some good weather). And sometimes you don’t.

But I’m tellin’ ya, “I’m gonna pitch a fit, this weather don’t a quit!”

Carmen,,
I think I love reading about David just about most of all in the Bible! When I did read through bible on the Bible app the first time, I couldn’t get enough of reading all about David, and although I already knew what was about to happen and how he was going to mess up, I couldn’t help but feel sadness in my heart for him and as crazy as it sounds feeling so close you almost wish you could yank him out and stop him!!! I remember slowing way down in my reading when the bad things were happening just because it got hard. I think he is so personable to so many of us in that sense because we feel the same way a lot of times. We are after Gods own heart, and then we are a total mess. Thank you for the way you bring this to us on the daily! Love! Tina
